My Top 40 UK Funky Tracks 2009

I started off aiming to give a top 10 but the year has produced a fair amount of good music so as I researched the number grew..... I still had to shorten it down from a hefty 45 however so if one of your productions were eliminated from the list, I apologise in advance.

The chart is strictly UK Funky tracks that arose during 2009 so if there's any that you feel are missing that were floating around last summer or even December, that would be why.

Good Times

It has been a pleasantly GOOD day......

First mission of the day was to brave the ice and cold and reunite with my offspring..... Happy Times!!! I even got introduced to Snowy the garden snow-gnome which he made in yesterday's snow fall.

As much as I love to socialise, being without my mush for too long can feel like a limb has been amputated. So once complete, it was time to make way down to Rinse FM for the all female Christmas PAAAARRRRTTTAAAAY!!!!

Hosted by Scratcha DVA, the party kicked off at 8am (same time as the usual breakfast show) and to get into the spirit, a makeover was done...... I'm not sure if makeover is the correct word, but out went Scratcha and in came Scratchina. I'm hoping I'll never see or hear of this happening again and with the disgust Scratchina showed at the fact there was no make up remover, I don't think it likely that she'll be back......

But to do this to a highly respected MAN and not have no make up remover before he has to walk street is definitely a CERTIFIED PAR!!

No!! We never let him end up on street like this.....
Scratcha man a badman!! Scratchina Nah Mek IT!!

It was a good experience though and I got to give the people an insight into my top 5 UK Funky tracks of all time of which I took it back. Especially for the true UK Funky connoisseurs..... But there were many ladies that reached the studio and also left the studio before my arrival, so if you took part in the 11 hr show big up yourself!! But mostly big shout out to Scratcha & Wendy for organising it all to make it happen, and most appreciation for letting me be a part of it.... Loves Ya xXx

I also let it out there that I'll be starting my very own radio show in the new year, there will also be a few other ventures that I'll be getting involved in, but everything has to await it's given time to be let out the bag...... First announcements will probably be on Twitter though so make sure you FOLLOW ME!!!!! <<<----Click there :o)

RIDDDDIMMMM!!!!!

Track doesn't need a blog post.... Video speaks for itself.....

I'll be banging this one out well into 2010

POW!!!!

Weekend Shenanigans.......

I had so much fun this weekend.... It's been a blast!!!

This Saturday I was on the list for Boxfresh/Channel AKA party but my attendance just wasn't meant to be.... I've been told by a few people that I never missed much so not to be in despair.

Anyway......

I braved the cold in my peep toe shoes to venture down to Avalon, Shoreditch for the Awkward Star Re-Launch..... Although I had no feeling in my feet or toes upon arrival, the night proceeded to be worth the numbness. With plenty of good music, good people and good vibes including a dance off between Slick (one half of the JCX & Slick duo) and Lee 'Littleman' Vassell which included cart wheels, back flips, somersaults and everything!! Poor Slick hurt his heel and bum in the antics (hope you're feeling better bubsie xxmwahxx)......

The amount of alcohol consumed was more than substantial, if Avalon never hit bar spend then it's simply too high.... SNM

Sunday I was meant to go to a dinner party, but that got postponed..... Weren't too happy about that as I was looking forward to getting my eat on, but sh*t happens I guess

I then continued the weekend by attending Sunday Show for the first time.....

Not somewhere you'd usually find me at all. The many (BAIT) faces on a Sunday evening isn't really the 'exclusive' surrounding I go for.... But at the same time, I got to see many familiar faces (BAIT), some of which I haven't seen for a good while (BAIT), but nevertheless it was a good evening overall. The entertainment was I believe above the usual standard usually reported from Sunday Show revellers and with comedians Eddie Kadi, Glenda Jaxson and Mo the Comedian hosting, I would be lying to say it wasn't a laugh.

There was one performance that stood out to me though, I don't really feel the track but the message within says much about the raving scene nowadays (although the choice of networking site in the track is dated), but hey, we all do it..... I did it this weekend...... Why??

BECAUSE WE'RE ALL TWITTERHOLICS!!!

If you're a web user and don't understand the Twitter hype, this is a message from Twitter:
Twitter is more fun and useful when you access it from your mobile phone

On a level though, maybe we should really fall back on the Blackberry and iPhone usage when in the raves, events etc and just concentrate on having a good time......

Cut the CHAT!!!

Ooooh this could be VERY interesting!

We got a little bit of insight about what gets talked about in the barbershop in the 2002 film, but let's admit it, it's a film, it has a script, and within all the cash machine shenanigans there is more than enough evidence to know that it's just NOT REAL!

But this.......

Our everyday faces such as Eddie Kadi, Femi Oyeniran, 1xtra's Ace, Kym Jay, Lee 'Littleman' Vassell also introducing blogger Christiana Mbakwe and others have congregated within Damon the Barber's North London barbershop and from the looks of things, the discussion could be rather gritty!

Cut the Chat launches on Christmas Day with following episodes each fortnight.

Scorcher's back on Fire!!

Scorcher's here again...... - "Check the flow though!"

While everybody went crazy for 'Lipsin Ting' I was kinda worried about the 'wetness' of the appeal within the track, wondering if Scorcher had inevitably put himself out?? Hmmmm....... Scorcher hasn't been as bad as some other 'Grime' artists I must say, following it up with Dark Knight, he's revived the grit we had become accustomed to.

The visual effects within the video are also of a level than can be highly appreciated, something else that is usual from Sorcher's videos (except Lipsin' Ting of course), ok ok so we've established I never appreciated the Lipsin' Ting, but really I know which musical side of Scorcher I prefer......

Just Saying!!

Check out the video for Dark Knight

Classic Mix CDs?

I've been a collector of Funky mix CDs for a while, even to the extent of running a Mix CD of the month competition on my It's A UK Funky Movement blog, but admittedly there are some that pass by under the radar on the net downloads. I'd been hearing about how good this one was for a while, but only from a small number of people who had managed to get a hard copy and they were singing it praises all the way! I vowed to get myself a copy.... And I did!!

The CD in question consists of Angie B B2B Pioneer whilst hosted by Dogtaniaun B2B Spidey G and after hearing it for myself, I have to join in with the songs of praises because if your into your connoisseur House musical sounds, then this is definitely a CD that is needed in your collection.....

One Day.......

One day some of the kids from the neighbourhood carried my mother's groceries all the way home..... You know why? It was outta RESPECT!!

This film coming straight out of Handsworth, Birmingham digs deep into street-life for the young black male, showing the many sides faced on a daily basis within their repetitive struggle of 24 hours..... Boasting an original cast and soundtrack also produced within Birmingham, this Musical is the first of its kind and is definitely a MUST SEE!!

I had the liberty of meeting the writer/director and some of the cast on Friday, interviews will be in the next issue of Da-Mju:zik Magazine.

Be What You Wanna Be......

Many know Kyla from her productions with Crazy Cousinz but I'm a big fan of this joint made long before she was asking Do You Mind? or was Daydreaming on a Sunday afternoon.....

Big favourite of mine!!

Thursday 22 October 2009

So Old School it's PRE-School!!

Old school cartoons, everybody loves them!! "Do you remember .........?" Tends to end up being the common barrage after one is mentioned. Samurai Pizza Cats, Captain Planet, Thundercats, Masters of the Universe and others tend to the most common ones, but what's your favourite?

My favourite is this:

The childhood memories this one brings have me overwhelmed in nostalgia on a major scale...... If you wanna talk to me about old school cartoons, just know that if you're and 80's baby and you never watched this, we're NOT on a level!!

Peace!!

Kanye in a Fairytale??

Kanye West may end up being the talk of the town once again..... No he hasn't gatecrashed another musician's special moment or anything like that.... He has a mini movie titled "We Were Once A Fairytale....."

Check it out!!

Come Back Moments!!!

It's a bizzare time within the music industry at the moment. There seems to be a few faces reappearing on our screens after an intermittent break. This isn't restricted to the UK music scene either, but there have been some comebacks from some big names with the UK......

Like who???

Ok first we have New Brand Flexx. You may remember the Anthem? This was on what was then Channel U on a more than regular basis. If you don't know it where was you?? You'd have to have been living under a rock!! Seriously....... Anyways, they're back!! And it's an EMERGENCY!!!

Next up, we have the original crew of all crews, the crew that made everybody else decide to form their crew. Coming straight out of south London, it's questioned whether any other crew was as Solid as this crew?? Yes of course, you must have guessed it by now!! If not, I'mma say it again...... WHERE WERE YOU!!!??? So Solid Crew, the crew also known for rolling 100 man deep to pick up their awards, however this track features the most recognised members; Megaman, Romeo and Lisa Maffia. They be letting us know what's been going down with 'Since We Went Away'

X-Factor have been treating us to some comebacks to stars on whole different level however. Firstly we were greeted with Robbie Williams, which was followed up the following week with Whitney Houston. Within Robbie's performance he was nothing more than a shadow of his former self. Take a look:

But the biggest shock factor had to be from Whitney Houston with Million Dollar Bill. Her performance on X-Factor is something I do not wish to comment on as I would not want to cloud anyone's judgement. But I have found the footage so if you never saw, you haven't missed out!

Which comeback do you think will be the most successful??

What is YOUR Mental Health?

There has been much attention paid to mental illness in soaps recently with Stacey's battle with bipolar in Eastenders and Newt's Schizophrenia in Hollyoaks but as I've watched in awe the recent months I have wondered how many people are understanding the message that is really being put across to the viewers in these gripping storylines......

I believe that mental illness is something that not enough people are aware of the effects on the community and I also believe that many people are effected (either personally or within the family) and stay silent in fear of the stigma that surrounds the subject. So as tomorrow is World Mental Health Awareness Day I thought I'd share a few facts on the issue:

  • 1 in 4 people will experience some kind of mental health problem in the course of a year

  • Mixed anxiety & depression is the most common mental disorder in Britain

  • Women are more likely to have been treated for a mental health problem than men

  • About 10% of children have a mental health problem at any one time

  • Depression affects 1 in 5 older people living in the community and 2 in 5 living in care homes

  • British men are three times as likely as British women to die by suicide

  • The UK has one of the highest rates of self harm in Europe, at 400 per 100,000 population

  • Only one in 10 prisoners has no mental disorder

I think that in the modern day and age isn't it time when we had a more open way of thinking? We have major campaigns to stamp out racism etc which people easily identify with and find it a subject easy to stand together on, but if we stopped making fun of the mentally ill and took time to understand what it is instead or turning a blind eye, would this not help to reduce the amount of people who are left to suffer??

One thing I feel people fail to realise about mental illness is that another person is usually required to realise when the person suffering from the illness needs help. If you don't understand the depths of that statement, ask yourself one question:

If you're suffering from the symptoms of mental illness, how do you personally identify that illness, seen as the illness is within your own mind? How do you monitor your change in emotions and thoughts? - A mentally ill person has to work towards identifying the problem within themselves before they can even apprehend getting better and the more ill that person gets while making that identification will effect how long it takes for that person to get better. If they get better......

Mental illness effects the old, young, rich and poor in many different ways with many things that can cause the onset. It can effect EVERYBODY at any given time within our lives either personally or someone close to us. While you laugh and joke at the man walking down the street talking to himself, remember that one day that could be your parent, child, brother, sister, cousin, best friend or even YOU!!

Are you credit crunched??

I heard this one quite a while ago on Scratcha's Grimey Breakfast Show on Rinse FM and loved it the moment I heard it..... A few days after Mr Brasco was a guest on the show and they discussed the track with Brasco explaining that in the present economic climate, he wrote this track in mind of how the majority of the nation must be feeling financially.

This track is also featured on Lee Brasco's current mixtape titled "Deep With the Lines" - I haven't had a chance to hear it as yet as I had some weird problems while trying to upload it..... I did tell Mr Brasco but he hasn't figured out a way to get me a copy as yet..... *Cough Cough Mr Brasco!!*

Check out the track....... PS This video has slight nudity at the end so ensure to cover the eyes of any youngsters!!

What A Funkin Damned DAY!!!

Yesterday a fellow music journalist who I actually have a lot of respect for (he's done some dope interviews with people like Busy Signal, Taurrus Riley, Jah Cure and all a dem reggae musician dem my parents regularly hold a vybe to), had attended an event for the underground music sub-genre I have become fairly acquainted with, UK Funky.

Being a blogger it was only natural for him to then write a review. The review wasn't what is usually seen within the UK Funky Scene, where everybody gives it a good response and then mutters to their nearest folk what their true thoughts are.... It was an outsiders view. An observation of events with some positive and some negative points, both going to their extremes respectively.

When first reading it I had to wonder how it would be perceived. Knowing had I written something of that nature, it would be considered faux pas. Consequently, I would automatically become branded a hater and probably be stoned the next time I tried to show attendance at any kind of UK Funky associated event. But I thought that as an 'outsider' of the scene, his negative comments would be taken on with grace allowing reflection on areas that can be worked on to make the UK Funky scene a bigger and better movement, really strong enough for world domination. I felt that it would show however whether or not the same people who are constantly accused of being 'gassed up' were really as grounded as they should be, seen as they are artists in such a minute area of the music industry. The day ended calmly..... No qualms?? Great!

Next day however, the review has made the rounds and the reactions have shown that many are not able to take criticism and turn it into a positive for the bettering of themselves. Something I find quite disheartening. It seems UK Funky has become a genre of artist that are only willing to hear 'songs of praise' and if you ain't singing, you're a sinner, condemned to hell because YOU don't get up on a stage TOO. They have the hardest job in the world, so we must bow down to their mercy. But this is the music business. Everybody plays their own part. From artist to journalist, from producers, video directors and A&Rs. NONE of us have a easy ride when it comes to longevity. Unfortunately as the artist, you're at the forefront, but you gotta take the rough with the smooth!

But the question I have to really ask to those holding grievance is:
How big will the UK Funky scene get if we don't master the craft of capturing the 'outsiders'?

Disclaimer: This is in no way aimed towards all of the acts that performed at the said event, or everybody who was originally mentioned within the review. This is an expression of my thoughts towards those who responded to the comments within the review with animosity. Whoever the cap fits let them wear......

Big Adults in Little Bodies

I've been watching this video over and over..... I can't seem to get enough of it!! This little girl has had more than enough of her aunty and expresses it very well, while bringing us some laughter while she gets well into her performance.

I love children like this, I call them little adults.... She has obviously been spending lots of time with some and picked up all the mannerisms.

Kano does Rock and Roll!!

We've been seeing much of Chippy and Tinchy recently, and few have been left wondering what's happened to the London Town artist Kano......

Fear not!!

I heard this one quite a while back and it had me head bopping the first time I heard it. Kano showing off his diversity once more with this electro style track that we've been seeing a bit too much of recently, but I think Kano pulls it off......

Take a look at his new video for his latest release: Rock & Roller

Case of the Fake People!!

Plastic bodies all around

Smiling, telling us what we want to hear

When you cut them, do they bleed?

How much do they really know about us?

Only as much as we wish to share.....

But when we share, do they listen?

Do they care?

What do they listen to? What do they see?

What we have, what we don’t have, who we know??

Who knows?

Are any of those people real?

Robots programmed to respond, say the correct things to please

What is it they want from us???

Really.....

They’re not friends

They have their own agendas.....

When they achieve them

Will they still be there?

To tell you ‘exactly’ what you wish to hear.....

The Silent Treatment

What is really supposed to be achieved by the silent treatment? Men always depict the females of the species to be an emotional creature so I really have to question the manner of conduct. Surely this isn't the most effective way to handle a situation with an 'emotional' being?

So... You've been seeing someone, you're really feeling her (or so you say), then one day something inside you changes. Maybe she says or does something you don't really like. Maybe the grass on the other side of the fence is starting to possess a much healthier glow than it did since the last time you was standing there....

Whatever the reason, as a man, would you not invest in your own integrity by making the effort to ensure that this female you spent so much time wooing with sweet talk etc is aware that you've turned your page? Wouldn't it benefit you to ensure that she is aware that she is no longer on your page?

Even if you decide to use the standard 2 lines "Maybe we should just be friends" and "It's not you, it's me". At least then she knows where it is that she stands.... and then, when she starts to act like a 'psycho bitch' you're in the clear.

See men don't understand the female fascination with Sex & The City, but I for one love it and am also looking forward to the sequel of the movie. But you see, Sex & The City seems to have at least one scene that depicts the foolish things that men do and then try to turn it around and blame it on our emotions. But surely if a programme is able to highlight it, it can't be the actions of only 'one' male is that not correct??

See... I think that if a man isn't able to finish a relationship in an amicable fashion, then he shouldn't get involved in one. Because all that happens in the end is he ends up looking like a bigger arsehole than he would even if he used the generic 2 sentences when he took advantage of his perogative to change his mind!!

Not only that, but it also would decrease the amount of angry females we have in society that state "Men are this...." or "Men are that....." at any given chance. The number of women claiming to be 'Single by Choice' is climbing..... Do men think that their actions in how they handle their situations with females may have any bearing on this??

The simple fact is this: Every male has a scrotum, but only few actually possess balls!!

Single Mothers..... Where you at??

Those who know me and some that don't will know that I have a child. A son, I am also a single mother. I'm not ashamed to say it, but it's not one of my best achievements.... admittedly.

Anyway.... I was thinking the other day while washing up my dishes about all the females that are mothers to children who also call themselves 'single mothers', and I thought that some of these females shouldn't be able to call themselves so. I mean, when I was carrying my child, I bought EVERYTHING he would need coming into this world. From the sterilising unit to the pram to his clothes. As time has gone on, I may get a few bits here and there from family members, friends and very sporadically his father would remember that he has a son and buy him some clothes, a coat or some trainers, but as I said, its sporadic, something that can only be appreciated when it happens and not depended on.

So.... All these females that leave their children with their fathers at least once a month, or call on them when they're short of cash don't really KNOW what being a SINGLE PARENT is!!! I would also like to state that most if not all at some point, tend to get highty tighty with their "babyfathers" and in spite declare that he can not see his child!! I wonder who this punishes, him or the child, but these females definitely are more than brazen to be calling themselves single mothers in the light that when ready, they turn their back on whatever input the male parent is providing.

But you know what?? I'm not alone in my thoughts on this one..... I came across this video on YouTube. If you class yourself as a single parent, listen and take a moment to think, because being a SINGLE PARENT is no joke!!!

M.O.B.O Awards......

Everyone is talking about the MOBO Awards but I'm not getting all gassed up this year..... Firstly I don't understand why it's being held in Glasgow?? What I mean by this is, hardly any of the winners turn up when the ceremony is held in Wembley, do you think more people will make the effort to turn up if it's held in Glasgow? We shall see.....

With many UK acts holding nominations however from the likes of Chipmunk, Dizzie Rascal and Tinchy Stryder to Yolanda Brown who is up again for Best Jazz Act (she won the 2008 Award) and Donaeo who is up for Best UK Act hopefully UK will be able to dominate the award winners. I have to wonder what was going through the thoughts of the board that picked some of these nominees on the other hand, as many of them just simply don't make sense.

Anyway, it's MOBO time again..... The question really is whether anybody actually cares anymore??

Wiley sends for N-Dubz

IS there no room from friendships in the music industry anymore?

WILEY has turned on fellow grime act N-DUBZ - weeks after collaborating with the band.

It has not been decided whether Na, Na, Na will be released as a single or if it will feature solely as a track on the N-Dubz album, due out in November.

Whatever the decision, it's clear Wiley wants nothing more to do with the former chart-toppers - labelling them as competition.

He said: "Everyone only cares about themselves. I don't care about them and I don't want to talk about the single.

"They can talk about that themselves. You know why? Because I featured on a track for them, so it's not for me to promote it - that's their job.

"What's happening now is that the charts are open, and although a lot of people are working together, everyone just wants to chart themselves, not other artists."

He continued: "Where I'm older (30-years old), I can say, 'you know what? Good for them.' They don't give a damn about Wiley, they just care about themselves.

"We are not friends anymore, we're competition. N Dubz, whatever!"

I think we get the message!!

Final Destination

There aren't many films that can get a big reaction from me, but the Final Destination trilogy has kept me highly entertained over the many years. With each one in possession on DVD, the adrenaline rush is always never too far away. Now I'm due to be on the hunt for the next one!!

Released in the cinema on August 28th, I'll be pre-booking my ticket cause there is no way the 29th is arriving and I haven't had a full dose of harmless high blood pressure!! The trailer was enough to get an emotional reaction from me..... Then it's in 3-D too!!

OK, do you think I'm gassing?? Check this out:

Kojo is hitting the BIG SCREEN!

We've seen Kojo take many long strides to get to where he is today, jetting back and forth to the US while entertaining on both sides of the Atlantic. Now Kojo is making another accomplishment with his debut on the big screen soon to be premiered at Vue Cinema at the O2 alongside a grand scale of fellow UK talent.

Check out the trailer..... I think I'll definitely be hitting the cinema for this one!!

Too much talking from Jammer and Lethal B

OK I'm sure I'm not the only person who is finding this clash rather boring, but it's inevitably one of the most talked about topics at the moment.... So what's the round up?

Video 1 - Lethal disses Jammer during his freestyle on Westwood

Video 2 - Jammer Addresses Lethal B & Fire Camp

Video 3 - Jammer's Freestlye dissing Lethal B & Fire Camp at the end

Video 4 - Lethal B responds to Jammer's Freestyle

Video 5 - Jammer addresses the situation again

Video 6 - Lethal makes a track stating all thoughts on his mind

Worst thing is..... There are MORE videos, but these are the most relevant.

Now we've been through all of this, am I the only one that feels like Grime Daily are being used to showcase this ongoing issue? But on another note.... With all this video beef that is going on between the Grime artist, is it any wonder that a Grime event is the hardest thing to arrange and pull off these days? Isn't it stuff like this that is the biggest disadvantage to the Grime scene preventing it to progress?

What do you think about all of this?

The Best Drake Ever Had??

I'm not really one to follow hype... I like to lay my own path to walk down rather that be led by another, but this video makes me laugh....

Drake is the hot new sensationt that everybody is rabbitting on about, and I have to admit, I have liked everyone of his songs that I have heard so far but this video is just no on par... Or maybe I should bring it into modern slang and just say Drake HAS BEEN PARRED!!

Check out the video for yourself:

Directed by Kanye West, I'm sure this could've been so much better!! Everyone had some high expectations for this video but it's more like soft porn with the song as the soundtrack. I guess Kanye thought that with it being summer and all, the men would like to do some ogling while tuned into MTV Base. I however will be sticking to the stereo. Kanye & Drake should've aimed higher, because their efforts seem more like they wanted to end up in the gutter!!

What do you think of the video?

Tinchy is Stryding!!

If you read the celeb news that I write for Champagne Bubblee TV you will be aware that Tinchy has been recording a track with Amelle from the Sugababes..... if you didn't, what can I say? I gave you guys the scoop!!

Well the video has now been released!! With the success of a Number 1 hit with the single that featured N-Dubz titled just that, I think this one is guaranteed to follow up the same way..... Maybe it will be there for longer?

Check it out!

Songs that make you melt......

I don't know what it is, but some musical constructions are put together with such a level of eloquence that for some unexplained reason, as the melody filters through our ear drums our bodies melt to the sweet sounds.

Various tracks in the past have proven to have this ability.... It's usually one of the last tracks you hear the DJ play near the end of his cool down set in the clubs, encourage people off the dance floor when fighting that eagerness to get their partners home, or alternatively it's the track that heats up the floor midway through the slow jam set, I know, you know what I mean. Either way, it has the same impact.

Undoubtedly, this the track of the moment.

Naked Fights

I went down to Soho today to go to Donaeo's Album Launch at Blackmarket Records. Upon approaching the West End area there was a load of traffic and congregation. I thought I'd investigate and found a bunch of naked people on a bike ride.... I was heavily amused!!

The entertainment heated up as a fight broke out......

I made an exit as the police arrived.... Chuckling to myself along the way....

JOKES!!!

Streetwise Sree?

OK I'm not gonna lie, I been finding it hard to keep up with Big Brother. The many drawn on faces, petty arguments that go alongside ill thought pranks and one housemate accusing another of being fake for the cameras are becoming irritating repetitions are already feeling a bit tedious. But last night we got to see Sree talking about some Funky beats and doing Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes.

It seems Sree is a bit of a bad boy!!

Suicide Kids by Arjun Rose

I've seen this video floating around quite a bit and thought I'd give it a screening out of curiousity..... What has the Awkward Starian been up to??

All I can say in reflection is that it's pretty DEEP!! I'm intrigued!!

Suicide Kids is now 'Demons Never Die' Click here for updated info and trailer

Big Brother is BACK!!

Another summer of us losing all sense of our normal routines.... It happens every year, we are adamant that we won't be watching it but by the time we get to August we can't even remember what we would normally do at that time. Honestly, how many of us spend the first week after the Big Brother final trying to remember what we originally had forsaken while getting drawn in?

This year I've decided to admit defeat from the beginning and just soak it in from the start. So I'll be calling this my Big Brother marathon. Expect many more post on the subject from me!!

Well it's number 10 and as always, Big Brother has given us a whole load of weirdos to legitimately stalk and gain entertainment from and I've already made up my mind on who my favourite is. Do not get that twisted. I won't be voting. I'll use the credit crunch as my excuse. But while doing my homework on my favourite I found this:

Well.... What can I say??? He shares more with Soulja boy than we thought.....

Terminator has been TERMINATED!!

Terminator has been the best film series I have ever come across..... The continuation is on point and the scriptwriters ability to retain thrill and excitement throughout is a marvellous accomplishment. As the series continues, my favourite part changes. And now we are at part 4!!

If you've followed the storyline from the beginning, you'll know that the fight against the Skynet machines has all been in favour of this moment. The machines have taken over the earth and are exterminating the humans with John Connor as the leading commander.

It is now JUDGEMENT DAY!!!

With all this excitement I cannot believe my bubble has been burst!! I have been told by a major and well respected film boffin that it is a waste of time and life...... Flabbergasted!!!! How did Teminator get PARRED!!??

Jury is out on this one..... I'll let you know what I think once I've had the chance to see it.

Have you seen it? What did you think?

I'M REALLY ILL!!

A new epidemic has finally been identified and seems to be taking over.... I have been hit by it endless times within the past 12 months and now the doctors have said that there is no hope for me..... There is nothing they can do. I have tried various remedies and none of them have helped. They have all become identified as what is between me and my very own Bugatti Veyron..... Jheeze!

A moment of reflection has made me realise that the illness has already taken full control. Being told repetitively that I need to chill out has been identified as another distraction. It's not a physical thing but a mental attitude, and if this is an illness, there are many of us that need to be locked up!!

Grind Flu is taking over, but this is an illness that shouldn't be cured but contracted. If you're not a sufferer, you won't understand, but the grass is definitely greener on this side!!

xXx

Fallen Soldiers

The pain felt from another fallen soldier has hit the atmosphere within Hackney today. Another youth's life taken by the violence within our youngsters on the street. It has been a tragic week for the families within the borough. When will the youngsters see that aggression is NOT the way to make progression within our community.

RIP Jahmal Mason Blair and my sincere condolences to his friends and family. The fallen soldiers may be gone, but they are never forgotten. In this moment I would like to send a moment of rememberance to Darren 'Poops' Ogistie, another fallen Hackney soldier close to my heart.

Feeling this track differently....... I caught my 5 year old son doing an angry head bop to it the other day. Some proper NEXT HYPE!!!!

Dizzee with Inspiration

There is something I find rather inspirational about a young black male from East London sitting down having a chat about some real issues on national television. The fact that there is obvious mutual respect as well as banter really does it for me.

I watched this on both Friday and Saturday night and felt it was a remarkable piece of television for the youth of today.

Part 1

Part 2

Did you catch the suit though!!!

Why couldn't Nu Brand be Brand Nu?

I went to a video shoot on Friday after being told last thing the night before that none of my magazine representatives were available at such sort notice. When I got the text with all the details, I was rather excited to find that it was for Nu Brand Flexx!! Following the hype on the Anthem video, I thought this should be a GOOD LOOK!!

UNFORTUNATELY
One thing about me and video shoots is that with the track being constantly repeated, I find it an important factor that I like it. If I don't like a track, once is often felt to be enough. Due to this, I didn't stay long. Nu Brand Flexx doing a Funky track isn't something I found too far fetched, but for a group that possesses so much talent as a collaborative, I was disappointed. Nu Brand Flexx seem to have jumped on the bandwagon to produce what we are getting from the Uni bods trying to make a name for themselves in the music industry. Why couldn't they have come with something more......

Brand Nu??

EXPOSURE!!!

The pictures of Cassie have been floating around the net these past few days and I've seen much more than I need to see of her. I don't even think her GP has seen that much!! Sorry I'm not posting the pictures..... They were that little bit too much.

But while on the the topic of exposure, this is another level of exposure!! All the freaky guys out there need to take notes..... You could end up being the next!!

I'm Riding!!

There's something about this track that makes me bubble sooo differently. I haven't worked out if its the backing track, the words or even many its Bish Bash Bosh.

Who knows??

All I know is that everytime I hear it "I'm Riding For Love!!!"

A close friend of mine declared that she needed to get this track in her life today.... Her sentiments are what I'm feeling exactly.

Check out the video:

Not the best Number 1....

N-Dubz Tulisa has been named as the 'Number 1' celebrity to be named as a victim of Swine Flu. This following 'Number 1' chart success with the single she features on with fellow members of N-Dubz titled 'Number 1' by Tinchy Stryder.

The star has just completed a 23 date world-wide tour and was on course to enjoy a family holiday to Greece when she collapsed on the plane and was later hospitalised in solitary confinement while awaiting her test results due to showing symptoms of the virus.

Further news on the well being of the 20 year old singer is eagerly awaited.

Is Tupac Shakur ALIVE??

This is the most exciting piece of news I have come across in a long while. Tupac Shakur who was murdered 13 years ago has been seen and pictures taken of him earlier THIS WEEK!!!

Is it possibly true? I've always had my reservations about him being dead due to the amount of music that we've had from him in the recent past. Tupac died with loads of unreleased material, but 13 years worth? The collaborations run up to the present day! Some things just seem that little too far fetched. Or has Tupac simply become the black Elvis Presley?

Take a look at this.... Do you think it's him? Do you believe he's still alive?

Thursday 30 April 2009

Bashy has another video out.... This time around, he's asking us "Who wants to be a millionaire?"

Well DUH Bashy!!! All of us maybe??

Check it out anyway folks..... Look out for the dance moves and cameos too.

If you're interested in 'behind the scenes' features, you can see more here. Taken from Tinie Tempah's Milk & 2 Sugars blog.....

Absence.....

Does it really make the heart grow fonder?

I been missing for a little bit, but I been having a great time while I've been gone. There's been a few emotional football matches, road trips, birthday parties, dinner dates, new friends, video shoots and we've also been blessed with some beautiful weather. Unfortunately for me, this has been accompanied with hayfever but it gets the best of us!!

Today I've been pleasantly reminded that absence surely does make the heart grow fonder.... Check out this track, I've missed it like crazy!!

Saturday 11 April 2009

Errr Cassie...... No!!

Can someone tell me what this is about? Is this supposed to be her revealing her swagger?

Power House Good Friday with It's ALOT!!

This morning myself and N'jai the writer we're down at Rinse FM for Scratcha's Grimey Breakfast Show as guests representing It's Alot Magazine for Power House Friday. What a better Friday to go than Good Friday?

Well in truth I was seriously tired afterwards, but nothing a power nap couldn't sort out.

We discussed a number of topics as well as the magazine including the House & Funky scene at present, MC skank tracks and I got to share my Top 5 tracks of the moment.

If you didn't get to hear it LIVE, you can do so here:

Need some more girls??

I like to think blogging is more than just posting videos but I been waiting for this one for a while. Just to emphasize the power the main line in this track has, take a look at this video first. You'll only need to watch the first 35 seconds!!

Boy Better Know have finally released this long awaited video!!

I've slightly remixed the words to fit my own circumstances...

"I need one more man in here, I need one more man in here x2
Cause I don't have man and need a REAL man
Don't have a man and need a REAL man x3"

What do you think?
