Film: Something From Nothing - The Art of Rap (Trailer)

SOMETHING FROM NOTHING: THE ART OF RAP is a feature length performance documentary film about the runaway juggernaut that is Rap music. At the wheel of this unstoppable beast is the film's director and interviewer Ice-T. Ice-T takes us on a deeply personal journey to uncover how this music of the street has grown to dominate the world. Along the way Ice-T meets some of the remarkable superstars of Rap, from Eminem to Dr Dre, to Snoop Dogg and Kanye West. He exposes the roots and history of Rap and then, through meeting most of it's most famous protagonists studies the living mechanism of the music to reveal The Art Of Rap. This film features unique performances from it's entire cast and does not use any archive material.

Still awaiting a UK release date, this one is highly anticipated... I'll do my best to keep you informed once a date has been confirmed.

New Music: Cry 4 U (Cover)

Do you remember that moment when Pretty Ricky released a cover of H-Town's Knocking the Boots and we were literally reduced to tears? All for the simple fact that a classic track had been destroyed by some young bods..... Well unfortunately another classic track has been picked up and covered.... Yes, it has been presumed that it'd be ok to pick up one of Jodeci greatest songs and tamper with it.... J Valentine, Tank, T Nelson and Bobby Cash have decided it would be a great idea to distress us and have us crying, while they performed kareoke over one of the 90's greatest slow jams. Sad but true.

Curiousity will force you to have a listen....

Creative Remixes

I've admittedly been slacking on the blogging recently, but that never means my ear isn't still firmly against the ground with eyes wide open on the look out for something fresh and new... While I've apparently been lurking in the shadows, there have been some remixes that I'm appreciating for the twist of creativity that has been used with them, showing a strong flare of innovation for both pieces of work I am referring to...

First exhibit comes from within the My-ish camp by Incisive. Using Wretch 32's previous top 10 hit single Traktor, Incisive & Shakka have twisted it around and made it into a song they can call their own.

Another exerting her abilities is songstress A.L. who has definitely gone from strength to strength throughout 2011 to leave a mark that won't be easily forgotten. Taking I'm A Boss from US Hip-Hop superstars Meek Mill and Rick Ross, the track has been flipped on it's head to give it a more easy listening jazz aura.

Any aspiring musicians definitely need to take note from these two... What I mean by that is just about anybody can get a backing track and write quirky new lyrics, but a true musician is able to take a great composition and make it their own without destroying the memory of the original.... Salutes!

New Video: Arch Your Back

Following a hiatus away from the club scene, Crazy Cousinz have teamed up with US R&B superstar Omarion on their latest single 'Arch Your Back' due to be released via Disturbing London.

Unfortunately the video doesn't hold as much weight as the collaboration and I don't really understand the point in the song concept. Surely this isn't 3 minutes all about girls dancing with heels on? Oh.... My Bad! It is..... Great production from Flukes (Crazy Cousins) as always, shame about the video and the songwriter.

Bin Laden Alive?

The past week has been all about the death of Bin Laden. Different stories of how he was eventually captured by the US, pictures apparently leaked on to the net yet new reports saying that pictures WILL NOT be released.....

Personally, I don't believe Bin Laden is dead. I'm yet to see or hear anything evidential that has swayed me. Even the reasons behind why pictures won't be released doesn't sound convincing. Taking myself back to watching a recording of Saddam Hussein being hauled out of a man hole in the ground, surely if it were true there would be something substantial enough to eliminate any shadow of doubt?

Does this video make you remember a night or two (maybe more) when you're in a zone and you could really hold that moment for life??

Personally I think it holds a hint of cheese BUT I also have to admit that I'm intrigued to see what else is going to come out from the Splurge Boys camp in future....

It's the time when UK are due to take over the box offices..... Here is another one that has foresight of making a substantial mark....



Written and Directed by Fredi 'Kruga' Nwaka following his short film 'Men Lie, Women Lie, Facts Don't', 2Die4 is set to star some big names including Fredo Starr who many of us will remember from Save The Last Dance and Moesha. I'm looking forward to see who else is going to be added to the bill!

Start It Up Remix

Lloyd Banks feat. Sway, Giggs, Kanye, Swiss Beats & Ryan Leslie

Came across this one a few weeks back. With the common thing to be to do a remix including a US/UK collabo I don't think this will be the last one. I haven't heard this track being played much however, maybe the idea has become rather saturated? Or maybe it just hasn't been heard enough? I can see this one being played in the clubs while the DJs do their montages though.....
